Acronis Backup Agent Management
This document explains how to install, register, update, reinstall, and troubleshoot the Acronis Backup Agent for Windows and Linux systems.
Platform: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud
1. Install Acronis Backup Agent on Windows
Procedure

Log in to the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud console.

Navigate to Devices.
-
Click Add > Windows.
-
Download the Windows Backup Agent installer.

Copy the installer to the target Windows server.
-
Run the installer with administrative privileges.
-
Accept the license agreement and complete the installation.
- Register the server to the Acronis console using the Registration Info.
-
The agent will automatically register with the Acronis console if the installer is linked to your tenant.
2. Install Acronis Backup Agent on Linux
Procedure
-
Log in to the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud console.

Navigate to Devices.
-
Select Add > Linux.
-
Download the Linux agent package or copy the installation command.

Transfer the installer to the target Linux server.
-
Install the package using the appropriate package manager.
RHEL/CentOS
Ubuntu/Debian
-
Complete the installation.
-
The server will automatically appear in the Acronis console after successful registration.
3. Register a Device in Acronis
Procedure
-
Log in to the Acronis console.
-
Navigate to Devices.
-
Select Add Device.
-
Download the appropriate Backup Agent.
-
Install the agent on the target machine.
-
After installation, the device automatically registers using the tenant credentials embedded in the installer.
-
Refresh the Devices page to confirm the system appears.
4. Remove a Device from Acronis
Procedure
-
Log in to the Acronis console.
-
Navigate to Devices.
-
Select the required device.
-
Click Actions > Delete or Remove.
-
Confirm the removal.
-
If the server is being decommissioned, uninstall the Backup Agent from the operating system.
5. Update the Acronis Agent
Procedure
-
Open the Acronis console.
-
Navigate to Devices.
-
Select the device requiring an update.
-
If an update is available, click Update Agent.
-
Wait for the update process to complete.
-
Confirm the agent status returns to Online.
6. Reinstall the Acronis Agent
Procedure
-
Uninstall the existing Acronis Backup Agent from the operating system.
-
Restart the server if required.
-
Download the latest Backup Agent from the Acronis console.
-
Run the installer.
-
Complete the installation.
-
Confirm the device registers successfully in the Acronis console.
7. Troubleshoot Acronis Agent Offline
Resolution
If a device shows as Offline in the Acronis console:
-
Verify the server is powered on.
-
Confirm internet connectivity.
-
Ensure the Acronis Managed Machine Service is running.
-
Restart the Acronis agent service.
-
Verify firewall or proxy settings are not blocking communication.
-
Check DNS resolution to Acronis cloud services.
-
If the issue persists, reinstall the Backup Agent.
8. Troubleshoot Device Not Appearing in Console
Resolution
If the device does not appear after installation:
-
Verify the installation completed successfully.
-
Confirm the correct tenant installer was used.
-
Ensure the server has outbound internet access.
-
Restart the Acronis agent service.
-
Check for firewall or proxy restrictions.
-
Wait a few minutes and refresh the Devices page.
-
If the device still does not appear, reinstall the agent using the latest installer.
