🔐 How to Log in to a Cloud Server Using Connect File, HTML5, and RemoteApp with TSplus

📝 Overview

This KB article explains the different ways users can connect to a TSplus Cloud Server using:

  1. TSplus Connect File (Windows executable)

  2. HTML5 Web Portal (Browser-based access)

  3. RemoteApp (Seamless application delivery)

These methods enable users to access remote desktops or specific applications hosted on a Windows server using TSplus Remote Access software.

✅ Prerequisites

Before proceeding, ensure the following:

  • A TSplus Server is installed and running on your cloud host (Windows Server OS).

  • The server has a public static IP address or domain name.

  • The server is properly licensed (or within the trial period).

  • Users have been created on the server (local or domain).

  • The necessary ports (e.g., 3389, 443, or 80) are open in the firewall and router.

  • TSplus Web Portal and Admin Console access are available.

1️⃣ Connect Using TSplus Connect File (.connect)

The Connect File is a small, portable .exe file that launches an RDP session with your saved configuration.

🔧 How to Generate and Use a Connect File:

  1. Login to the TSplus Admin Console:

    • Open AdminTool.exe on the TSplus server.

    • Navigate to Web > Web Portal > Web Portal Preferences.

  2. Customize Your Portal (Optional):

    • Add your organization name/logo.

    • Configure user access and published applications.

  3. Generate Connect Client:

    • Go to Web > Web Portal > Web Portal Preferences.

    • Click on Client Generator.

    • Choose:

      • User Login (optional, embed user credentials)

      • Application (select RemoteApp or full desktop)

      • Connection Mode (standard RDP or RemoteApp)

    • Click Generate Client to download the .exe file.

  4. Distribute the Connect File:

    • Send to end-users via email or secure cloud storage.

    • Users run the file to directly connect to the cloud server.

Pros:

  • Easy for non-technical users.

  • No software installation required.

  • Pre-configured and secure.

2️⃣ Connect Using HTML5 Web Portal (Browser Access)

Users can log in from any device using just a browser — no client needed.

🌐 Steps to Connect via HTML5:

  1. Open Browser:

    • On client device, open Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or Safari.

    • Go to:

      pgsql
      https://<your-cloud-server-ip-or-domain>
    • Example:

      arduino
      https://remote.companyname.com
  2. Login to the TSplus Web Portal:

    • Enter your Username and Password (Windows credentials).

  3. Choose Access Mode:

    • Select Remote Desktop or any published application.

    • Click to launch session inside the browser.

  4. Use Session:

    • Session opens within a browser tab.

    • Seamless usage without additional software.

Pros:

  • Platform-independent (works on Windows, macOS, Linux, Chromebook, iOS, Android).

  • Ideal for mobile access.

  • Fully encrypted (HTTPS with SSL certificate).

3️⃣ Connect Using RemoteApp Mode

RemoteApp delivers only a specific application to the end-user desktop, not the full desktop environment.

🔧 How to Set Up RemoteApp:

  1. Publish the Application:

    • In AdminTool:

      • Navigate to Applications > Publish Applications.

      • Click Add Application.

      • Browse and select the .exe of the app.

      • Assign it to desired users or groups.

  2. Assign Access in Web Portal:

    • Under Web > Web Applications, ensure the application is visible to the right users.

  3. Generate RemoteApp Client (Optional):

    • Use the Client Generator as described above.

    • Choose RemoteApp mode.

    • Embed application or create a shortcut to auto-launch it.

  4. Connect:

    • When users launch the Connect File or access via HTML5, they will only see and use that application in a window — as if it were running locally.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and fast.

  • Better user experience and security (no access to full desktop).

🔒 Security Best Practices

  • Always use HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate.

  • Create limited-access user accounts on the server.

  • Use strong passwords and enable multi-factor authentication (if available).

  • Keep TSplus and Windows Server updated.

  • Optionally restrict RDP and open only required TSplus ports (like 443).

📋 Troubleshooting Tips
