TSplus Troubleshooting

Overview

This category provides troubleshooting guides for common TSplus issues, including login failures, web portal and HTML5 client problems, published application errors, session disconnects, performance issues, licensing errors, redirection problems, SSL certificate issues, and service failures. Follow these articles to diagnose and resolve issues affecting users and the TSplus environment.

1. User Is Unable to Log In

  1. Confirm the username/password are correct and the account is not locked (Windows/AD lockout policy).
  2. Verify the user has been added/imported in TSplus Admin Console > Users.
  3. Confirm the TSplus service is running on the server (systeminfo / Services console).
  4. Check that the user's account has not expired or been disabled in Active Directory.
  5. Verify network connectivity and that the correct server address/port is being used by the client.
  6. Check Sessions to ensure the user isn't blocked by a single-session restriction with an existing stuck session.
  7. Review TSplus logs for authentication failures.

2. User Receives Invalid Credentials Error

  1. Confirm the username is entered in the correct format (domain\username vs username vs UPN), as required by your setup.
  2. Reset the user's password and try again to rule out an expired/mistyped password.
  3. Confirm the account is not locked out in Active Directory (Account is locked out flag).
  4. Verify the TSplus server is joined to the correct domain and can reach the domain controller.
  5. Check Users in the Admin Console to confirm the account still exists and is enabled.
  6. Review Windows Event Viewer (Security log) on the server for failed logon events and reason codes.

3. TSplus Web Portal Is Not Opening

  1. Confirm the TSplus Web/HTML5 service (IIS or built-in web server) is running on the server.
  2. Check the URL/port used to access the portal matches the server's configured port (default is usually 8080/443, per your setup).
  3. Test connectivity with telnet <server> <port> or a browser from another machine.
  4. Check server firewall and any network firewall/security group rules for the required port.
  5. Restart the TSplus web service / IIS.
  6. Check for a bound SSL certificate issue if using HTTPS (see item 56).
  7. Review the TSplus/IIS logs for startup errors.

4. HTML5 Client Is Not Loading

  1. Confirm the HTML5 Client feature/component is installed and enabled in TSplus.
  2. Clear browser cache or try a different/updated browser (HTML5 client requires modern browser support).
  3. Check the HTML5 Gateway service status on the server and restart if needed.
  4. Verify the port used by the HTML5 client is open on both server and network firewalls.
  5. Check browser console (F12) for JavaScript/network errors when loading the client.
  6. Confirm SSL certificate validity if the HTML5 client is served over HTTPS.

5. Published Application Is Not Opening

  1. Confirm the application's executable path is still valid on the server (not moved/uninstalled/updated to a new path).
  2. Check the user has been granted access to the application under Application Publishing > Security.
  3. Try launching the application directly on the server (outside TSplus) to confirm it runs normally.
  4. Check for a pending Windows update or license prompt blocking the app from starting silently.
  5. Review the application's Properties for correct working directory and launch parameters.
  6. Check server resource usage — high CPU/RAM can prevent new processes from starting (see items 46–47).
  7. Review TSplus session/application logs for the specific failure.

6. User Session Disconnects Frequently

  1. Check the configured Session Timeout and Idle Timeout settings (see items 20–21) — the disconnect may be expected behavior.
  2. Check network stability between the client and server (packet loss, VPN drops, Wi-Fi issues).
  3. Review server Event Viewer for unexpected service restarts or crashes.
  4. Check if the server is under heavy load, causing sessions to be dropped (see items 46–47).
  5. Confirm the client device isn't going to sleep/hibernating, which can trigger disconnects.
  6. Update the TSplus client/agent to the latest version to rule out a known bug.

7. TSplus Server Is Running Slowly

  1. Check overall CPU, RAM, and disk usage via Task Manager / Resource Monitor (see items 46–47).
  2. Review the number of concurrent active sessions against the server's sizing/licensing limits.
  3. Check for pending Windows updates or antivirus scans consuming resources.
  4. Review disk health and free space — low disk space can cause severe slowdowns.
  5. Check network latency between clients and the server.
  6. Review installed applications for known resource-heavy processes running in user sessions.
  7. Consider load-balancing across multiple servers if consistently over capacity (Enterprise/farm setups).

8. High CPU Usage on TSplus Server

  1. Open Task Manager > Processes, sort by CPU to identify the top consuming process(es).
  2. Check if the high usage correlates with a specific published application or user session.
  3. Check for runaway processes stuck in a loop within a user session (end the process if safe to do so).
  4. Review scheduled tasks, antivirus scans, or backup jobs (e.g., Acronis) running concurrently.
  5. Check the number of active sessions against server capacity — consider reducing per-server session limits.
  6. Update drivers/OS patches if a known CPU-related bug is suspected.

9. High RAM Usage on TSplus Server

  1. Open Task Manager > Processes, sort by memory to identify top consumers.
  2. Check for memory leaks in specific published applications by monitoring usage over time.
  3. Review the number of concurrent sessions — each session consumes baseline RAM; too many sessions can exhaust available memory.
  4. Restart problematic application processes or log off idle/stuck sessions consuming memory.
  5. Check installed RAM vs. recommended sizing for the number of concurrent users.
  6. Consider adding RAM or redistributing users across additional servers if consistently near capacity.

10. TSplus License Expired

  1. Log in to the TSplus Admin Console, go to Licensing/Activation.
  2. Confirm the expiry date and license type (trial, subscription, perpetual) shown.
  3. Contact your TSplus reseller/account team to renew or extend the license.
  4. Once a new license key is issued, go to Licensing > Enter License Key and input the new key.
  5. Restart the TSplus licensing service if the console doesn't reflect the update immediately.
  6. Confirm user access is restored once the license shows as Active.

11. TSplus License Activation Failed

  1. Confirm the license key was entered correctly (no extra spaces/typos).
  2. Verify the server has internet access to reach the TSplus activation server (check firewall/proxy).
  3. Confirm the license key hasn't already been activated on another server (check with TSplus support/reseller if unsure).
  4. Try manual/offline activation if online activation repeatedly fails (TSplus supports offline activation via a request file).
  5. Check the system date/time on the server is correct — activation can fail if the clock is significantly off.
  6. Restart the licensing service and retry activation.
  7. Contact TSplus support with the exact error code if the issue persists.

12. Clipboard Copy and Paste Is Not Working

  1. Confirm Clipboard redirection is enabled in the client connection settings and on the server session policy.
  2. Check the rdpclip.exe process is running within the user's session (restart it via Task Manager if not).
  3. Test copy/paste with a simple text snippet first to isolate the issue from file/rich-content copying.
  4. Update the TSplus client to the latest version to rule out a known clipboard bug.
  5. Check Group Policy settings on the server that may be restricting clipboard redirection.
  6. Restart the user's session to refresh the redirection channel.

13. Printer Redirection Is Not Working

  1. Confirm Printer redirection is enabled in both the client settings and server session policy.
  2. Verify the local printer driver is installed and functioning on the client device.
  3. Check that the redirected printer appears in the session's Devices and Printers.
  4. Update or install a universal print driver on the server if the specific printer driver isn't supported remotely.
  5. Restart the Print Spooler service on both client and server.
  6. Reconnect the session after making changes, as redirection is established at session start.

14. Local Drive Is Not Visible

  1. Confirm Local drive/disk redirection is enabled in the client connection settings.
  2. Check the server-side session policy allows drive redirection (not disabled by Group Policy).
  3. Reconnect the session — drive redirection is applied at connection time, not mid-session.
  4. Confirm the local drive is not disconnected/removed on the client device itself (e.g., unplugged USB drive).
  5. Check TSplus client version supports the redirection feature in use.
  6. Review server security/GPO settings restricting device redirection for that user or group.

15. User Profile Is Corrupted

  1. Confirm the issue by checking for errors like slow logon, missing settings, or a temporary profile message.
  2. Log off the user completely and remove any stuck session before attempting a fix.
  3. Back up the user's existing profile folder (e.g., C:\Users\<username>) before making changes.
  4. Rename the corrupted profile folder and associated registry key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList, then have the user log in to generate a fresh profile.
  5. Restore any needed personal files/settings from the backed-up profile into the new one.
  6. If using roaming/mandatory profiles, check the profile share for corruption or permission issues.

16. Application Freezes in TSplus Session

  1. Check if the freeze is isolated to one application or affects the entire session.
  2. Open Task Manager within the session and check the application's CPU/memory usage and responsiveness.
  3. End the frozen application process and relaunch it from the TSplus portal.
  4. Check server-wide resource usage in case the freeze is a symptom of server overload (see items 46–47).
  5. Update the application to the latest version if a known bug is causing hangs.
  6. Review Event Viewer (Application log) for crash/hang events tied to the process.

17. Blank Screen after Login

  1. Confirm the issue is isolated to specific users or affects all sessions.
  2. Check for a corrupted user profile causing the desktop/shell to fail loading (see item 53).
  3. Restart the session (log off and back in) to rule out a temporary rendering glitch.
  4. Check graphics/display driver settings on the server, especially after recent updates.
  5. Review the published application or full desktop configuration for an invalid startup path.
  6. Check Event Viewer for explorer.exe or shell-related crash events.

18. SSL Certificate Error on TSplus Portal

  1. Confirm the SSL certificate bound to the TSplus web portal has not expired.
  2. Check that the certificate matches the domain name used to access the portal (no mismatch warnings).
  3. Verify the full certificate chain (including intermediate certificates) is installed correctly on the server.
  4. Renew or reissue the certificate if expired, then rebind it in IIS / TSplus web settings.
  5. Restart the web service after updating the certificate.
  6. Clear browser cache/test from an incognito window to rule out cached certificate errors.

19. TSplus Service Is Not Starting

  1. Open Services (services.msc) and locate the relevant TSplus service(s).
  2. Check the service status and attempt to start it manually; note any error message shown.
  3. Review the Windows Event Viewer (System/Application logs) for the specific startup failure reason.
  4. Confirm the service's logon account has the correct permissions (especially if configured to run as a specific user).
  5. Check for a port conflict — another application may already be using the port the service needs.
  6. Repair or reinstall the TSplus service component if configuration files appear corrupted.
  7. Restart the server if the service remains stuck after a manual restart attempt.
